Two-gap superconductivity in R2Fe3Si5 (R = Lu and Sc)

چکیده
High-quality single crystals of Lu2Fe3Si5 and Sc2Fe3Si5 are grown by the floatingzone method, and their temperature dependences of specific heat are measured down to 0.35 K. Both compounds show anomalously small jump in specific heat at the superconducting transition temperature, Tc, and large residual specific heat coefficient even at 0.2Tc, where BCS superconductor shows negligible electronic contribution. We also find drop in the specific heat coefficient below 0.2Tc. These characteristics are very similar to MgB2, and temperature dependences of specific heat in both compounds are well reproduced by assuming two superconducting gaps. Upper critical field measurements confirm that both Lu2Fe3Si5 and Sc2Fe3Si5 are weakly one-dimensional superconductors.

Point-contact Spectroscopy of the Nickel Borocarbide Superconductors
An overview of the recent efforts in point-contact (PC) spectroscopy of the nickel borocarbide superconductors RNi2B2C in the normal and superconducting (SC) state is given. The results of measurements of the PC electronboson(phonon) interaction spectral function are presented. Phonon maxima and crystalline-electric-field (CEF) excitations are observed in the PC spectra of compounds with R=Dy, ...
متن کاملPressure-induced superconductivity in Sc to 74 GPa
Using a diamond-anvil cell with nearly hydrostatic helium pressure medium, we have significantly extended the superconducting phase diagram Tc P of Sc, the lightest of all transition metals. We find that superconductivity is induced in Sc under pressure, Tc increasing monotonically to 8.2 K at 74.2 GPa. The Tc P dependences of the trivalent d-electron metals Sc, Y, La, and Lu are compared and d...
متن کاملQuantum Criticality and Superconductivity in Quasi-Two-Dimensional Dirac Electronic Systems
We present a theory describing the superconducting (SC) interaction of Dirac electrons in a quasi-two-dimensional system consisting of a stack of N planes. The occurrence of a SC phase is investigated both at T = 0 and T 6= 0, in the case of a local interaction, when the theory must be renormalized and also in the situation where a natural physical cutoff is present in the system. In both cases...
متن کاملSuperconductivity and spin-density waves in multiband metals
We present a detailed description of two-band quasi-two-dimensional metals with s-wave superconducting SC and antiferromagnetic spin-density-wave SDW correlations. We present a general approach and use it to investigate the influence of the difference between the shapes and the areas of the two Fermi surfaces on the phase diagram. In particular, we determine the conditions for the coexistence o...
متن کاملTheory of multiband superconductivity in spin-density-wave metals.
We study the emergence of multiband superconductivity with s- and d-wave symmetry on the background of a spin density wave (SDW). We show that the SDW coherence factors renormalize the momentum dependence of the superconducting (SC) gap, yielding a SC state with an unconventional s-wave symmetry. Interband Cooper pair scattering stabilizes superconductivity in both symmetries. With increasing S...
